Trinity's Piske; Moreno Earn SCAC Runner-of-the-Week Honors

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Trinity University sophomore Taylor Piske and senior Vanessa Moreno have been named the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Male and Female Runners-of-the-Week, respectively, for Week One of the 2013 SCAC Cross Country season.

TAYLOR PISKE OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore from Richardson, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Men's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week for meets run through Saturday, August 31.

Piske helped lead the Trinity men's team to a second-place finish behind Division I UT-San Antonio in Saturday morning's season-opener.

Piske earned his first individual collegiate victory in the race, outkicking the competition to the finish line. Last year's SCAC Newcomer of the Year, Piske won the 6K event among Division I, Division II and NAIA competition.

VANESSA MORENO OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior from El Paso, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women's Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week for meets run through Saturday, August 31.

Moreno led the Tiger women in scoring 32 points to beat Division I schools Incarnate Word (39 points) and UT-San Antonio (49 points) and other schools including SCAC newcomer Texas Lutheran at Saturday's season-opening meet.

Moreno took the individual win in the 4K race, picking up where she left off in the 2012 cross country season.

The 2012 SCAC Runner-of-the-Year, Moreno led the Tigers to last year's conference title - the first for the program.
