HOLLY TONRY OF THE UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS, a senior guard from Seattle, Wash. has been named the SCAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, February 19th.
Tonry gave her best scoring performance of her career in her final game at the Maher Center Saturday afternoon.
Tonry led the conference in scoring last week with 24 points on 10-of-19 shooting from the floor. She also tallied six rebounds, seven assists, four steals and a pair of blocks in a win over Colorado College.
The win secured the Crusaders a spot in the SCAC Tournament, which begins this Friday in Georgetown, Texas.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore forward Bryce Frank of Austin College came up huge for the 'Roos, scoring 17 points, grabbing 11 rebounds and dishing out five assists. Sophomore forward Tori Carraway of Southwestern University scored 20 points on 69.2% shooting and pulled down 10 rebonds in the Pirates regular season finale against Texas Lutheran. Senior forward Kristen Lye of Texas Lutheran scored 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds in her final home game. Junior forward Micah Weaver of Trinity University led the Tigers to a pair of wins, averaging 22 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and two steals.
