MICAH WEAVER OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior forward from Poth, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, December 18th.
Weaver paced the Tigers to a pair of wins at Pacific Lutheran's Pacific Northwest Tournament, beginning with a key win over #18 University of Puget Sound.
Weaver came off the bench in both games to lead the team with 16.5 points/game, hitting 16-24 (66.7%) from the field, and earning herself Tournament MVP honors.
Against 18th-ranked Puget Sound, Weaver had 19 points on 9-13 shooting to lead the Tigers to victory. In the tournament finale against Pacific Lutheran, Weaver had five rebounds to go with 14 points in just 23 minutes, hitting 7-11 from the field.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore guard Ann Savage of Austin College helped the 'Roos to a 3-0 record on the week, averagin 14.7 points, 5.0 reounds, 2.3 assists and 1.3 steals per game. Freshman guard Jordan Meltzer of Colorado College had her first career double-double in the Tigers' opening SCAC match up, recording 12 points and 10 rebounds. Senior forward Kristen Lye of Texas Lutheran University recorded 20 points and 11 rebounds in the Bulldogs only game last week, a win over McMurry University. Sophomore forward Madison Edwards of Southwestern University averaged 14 points per game on 50.0% shooting in just 22.5 minutes last week.
