MONICA HOLGUIN OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior guard from El Paso, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, November 27th.
Holguin led Trinity to a pair of wins over Hendrix Collegie and Rhodes College at the Cliff Garrison Classic over the weekend.
Holguin averaged 18.5 points per game for the Tigers, connecting on 13-18 (72.2%) from the field and 8-10 (80%) from the foul line. She also averaged 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals per contest over the weekend.
Holguin opened the tournament with a game-high 21 points and team-best six rebounds to lead the Tigers past Hendrix. She finished with a 16-point performance in just 17 minutes of action against Rhodes.
This season, Holguin leads the Tigers with 16.9 points/game and is second among Trinity players with 5.1 rebounds/game and 20 total assists. She is shooting 55% (44-80) from the field and 40.7% (11-27) from the three-point range, as well as connecting on 79.2% (19-24) from the free throw line this season.

Redshirt Junior guard Peyton Hurst of Centenary scored a career-best 18 points, hitting 4-of-7 from beyond the arc in her only game this week. Senior forward Seana Stoia of Dallas posted her third straight double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds in the Crusaders huge win over Southwestern Adventist. Sophomore forward Tori Carraway of Southwestern recorded her second double-double this season with 26 points adn 16 rebounds against Howard Payne Tuesday. Senior guard Cierra Jordan of Texas Lutheran averaged 12.5 points, 7.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game as the Bulldogs came away with a 2-0 weekend.
