Trinity's Weaver Named Preseason All-American

SAN ANTONIO, Texas -- Trinity University women's basketball senior forward Micah Weaver has been tabbed as a Preseason Honorable Mention All-American by D3hoops.com. Complete D3hoops.com Preseason AA Team

The 2016-17 campaign was Weaver's first season with the Tigers, and she made a statement by earning a spot on the D3hoops.com All-South Region Second Team and Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year.

The 5-foot-8 Weaver led the Tigers in scoring, producing 15.8 points per matchup. Weaver was also tops on the team with 163 rebounds and a shooting percentage of .541.

Weaver contributed to Trinity's successful and record-breaking season. The Tigers completed the year with a 28-2 record, which tied the school record for most wins in a single season. Trinity also won a third SCAC Championship under the leadership of Head Coach Cameron Hill. The Tigers made a third appearance in the NCAA Division III Tournament with Coach Hill at the helm and advanced to the Round of 16.

Coach Hill is now in his sixth year as head coach of the Tigers, who have been ranked seventh by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association NCAA Division III Preseason Poll. The WBCA posted a final ranking of eighth last season for the Tigers.

Trinity opens its season November 17-18 at the Bruin Classic in Newberg, Oregon. The Tigers begin their home slate with the Trinity Thanksgiving Tournament November 25-26.
