Drew Butler, Trinity University, Baseball - Offensive Player of the Week (Week 11)

DREW BUTLER OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior catcher from Phoenix, Ariz., has been selected the SCAC Baseball Offensive Player-of-the-Week for games played through Sunday, April 19th.

Butler paced the Tigers to a three-game SCAC sweep against Schreiner over the weekend, keeping the team in the running for the second seed at the SCAC Tournament.

Butler hit .556 (5-9) over the three games, crushing a double and two home runs, and piling up four runs and six RBI. He started the series by going 2-for-3 with a home run, scoring two runs and four RBI in the team's run-rule win. In game two of the doubleheader, Butler homered again, going 2-for-4 overall.

In Sunday's series finale, he was 1-for-2 with a double, picking up an extra-base hit in all three Tiger wins.

For the season, Butler is now second on the team with a .373 batting average, going 44-118 with 22 runs and a team-best 37 RBI. He now has nine doubles and three home runs this season, and holds a slugging percentage of .525 this year.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior first baseman Todd Takabuki of Austin College had a strong day at the plate in a doubleheader against Dallas, hitting .444 and launching his first home run of the season. Takayuki also had a double and scored three runs, while boasting a .889 slugging percentage. Senior right fielder Anthony Armstrong of Dallas provided a spark for the Dallas offense, as the Crusaders split a 1-1 series at Austin College. Sunday's contest was pushed back. In the opener, The senior from Richardson, Texas, lifted his second homer of the season for the squad's lone run. Junior outfielder Will Cates of Southwestern led SU at the plate, going 8-18 with four runs scored, a double, triple and three RBIs. .611 slugging percentage and 6-6 in stolen bases. Junior first baseman Justin Law of Texas Lutheran played a key role in Wednesday's 10-4 come-from-behind win over Southwestern, clinching a series sweep as Law's three-run homer in the seventh inning gave the Bulldogs a 7-4 lead they would never relinquish
