AARON QUINTANILLA OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a sophomore infielder from Houston, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Baseball Offensive Player-of-the-Week for games played through Sunday, April 12th.
Quintanilla led the Gents with a .474 batting average as he compiled a team-best nine hits in five games over the week as the Gents went 3-2 with wins over American Southwest foes LeTourneau University and Louisiana College.
The Houston, Texas, native posted a hit in all five games with three multiple hit efforts and posted three extra base hits, including two doubles and a homerun. His five RBI tied for tops on the team. The sophomore posted a .737 slugging percentage and a .545 on-base clip.
Quintanilla finished 3-for-4 with two RBI, a run scored, and a stolen base in a 10-8 win over LeTourneau. He followed that up with a pair of 2-for-4 games with two doubles, a home run, and three runs scored in a split against Louisiana College.
For the season, Quintanilla is sixth in the SCAC with three homeruns while batting .308 with a .477 slugging percentage. He has driven in 21 runs with seven doubles, one triple, and 21 runs scored.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior infielder Josh Coughennower of Austin College had a big all around week at the plate for Austin College, batting .353 with a double, a triple, a home run, three RBI, five runs scored, and a stolen base in four games. Freshman outfielder Will Cates of Southwestern hit for the cycle this week in three games and went 6-12 from the plate for a .500 batting average. He had one double, one triple and one homerun as the Pirates went 1-2. He had a slugging percentage of 1.000 and .538 on base percentage while walking once and striking out just once. Junior first baseman Justin Law of Texas Lutheran finished the week with a .333 average, but added five walks to tally a .571 on-base percentage, tops on the team. He hit the third homer of his season in Friday's 6-3 win over Southwestern. Senior catcher Beau Attyah of Trinity hit .500 (5-10) for the week, scoring three runs and driving home three more over the weekend. He also had a double and stole a base during the series. Dallas and Schreiner did not nominate anyone.
