LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Eleven Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference programs were recognized by the league as the Spring 2019 Sportsmanship Teams in their respective sports.
The SCAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee instituted the award prior to the 2016-17 academic year in an effort to honor the team that best portrays good sportsmanship and fair play from the players and coaches during the season. The spring awards are presented in baseball, men's and women's golf, men's and women's lacrosse, softball, men's and women's tennis and men's and women's track and field.
Southwestern University collected four of the awards, followed by University of Dallas and Colorado College with two each. Austin College, Centenary College and Texas Lutheran University took the remaining three.
Both Texas Lutheran baseball and Southwestern women's golf have earned the honor three consecutive years, while Austin College women’s tennis has picked up the distinction in back-to-back years.
Colorado College men’s track & field is earning the accolade for the second time in the last three years, having previously won the award in its inaugural year back in the spring of 2017.

The awards were voted on by each member institution's SAAC, with each individual group ranking the top three teams in each sport. The first place selections were awarded five points, second place earned three points and third place earned one point. Points were then totaled to select the conference's overall winner.
