SCAC Pair Holds in AVCA Top 25

LEXINGTON, Ky. – The American Volleyball Coaches Association released the Division III Top 25 poll for the ninth week of competition. Building upon a historic season, Colorado College (33-2) held the 7th spot after a 4-0 week. Southwestern University (28-4) holds the 12th spot for the second straight week. 

The Tigers earned four victories last week to end the 2015 regular season with the best record in program history. CC also swept the SCAC postseason awards with senior Courtney Birkett named Player of the Year, senior Sophie Merrifield selected as Backrow Player of the Year and Myca Steffey-Bean named Freshman of the Year. Head coach Rick Swan was also voted Coach of the Year.

Southwestern University had a tough final weekend of competition against 18th-ranked La Verne, 19th-ranked University of Texas-Dallas and Mary Hardin-Baylor. The Pirates emerged 2-1 after dropping a 3-0 upset against the University of Texas-Dallas. The Pirates will host the SCAC Conference Tournament this weekend as the #2 seed.
