IRVING, Texas – Prentice Lewis has been named the new head volley coach at the University of Dallas, athletic director Dick Strockbine announced on Wednesday. Lewis becomes the 16th coach to be assigned at the helm for the Lady Crusaders. She replaces Emily Holembek, who pursued other career endeavors and resigned last month. Lewis officially begins on April 4.

A resident of Midlothian, Texas, Lewis returns to collegiate coaching after teaching at Midlothian High School since August, 2015.

Lewis reflects a well decorated track record, coaching 13 years at Division I Texas Christian University. She is the winningest coach in school history for the Horned Frogs, compiling a 245-174 overall record. Lewis boasted 10 winning seasons, with six of them being 20 win seasons. Her greatest run was with the 2009 squad reaching the second round of the NCAA Tournament. The greatest season in school history would end to No. 2 Texas and complete a 27-7 record.

Lewis has been the head coach in the Big XII, Mountain West, and Conference USA conferences. Each time the Horned Frogs moved leagued, Lewis guided TCU from the bottom to the top in three conferences. She joined the coaching ranks at TCU in February, 2002 and left December, 2014.

Lewis has made stops at University of Florida (2000-02), University of Oregon (1999-00), and University of California at Irvine (1996-99). At both schools she served as an assistant coach for the programs that are in the SEC, PAC 10 (Now PAC 12), and Big West.

Lewis attended and competed at Long Beach State and played four seasons. She helped LBSU to three trips in the NCAA Tournament, highlighted by the National Championship won in 1993. This came on the heels of being a National Semi-Finalist in '92, and National Finalist in '91. Lewis also participated in the U.S. Olympic Festival in '93, and was named Big West Scholar Athlete of the Year in '94.

Lewis earned her Bachelor of Arts in History from Long Beach State in 1995. In December, 1998, Lewis received her California State Teaching Credential of Social Science.
