SCAC Announces Staff Changes for the 2015-16 Academic Year

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) today announced several staff changes heading into the 2015-16 academic year.

Katie Mucci, who has served as the league's Director of Communications and New Media since joining the conference in 2014, has been promoted to Assistant Commissioner effective immediately.

"The league office is fortunate to have someone with Katie's skill set and work ethic ready to take on the added responsibilities of Assistant Commissioner," said commissioner Dwayne Hanberry. "She brought so many new ideas that we were able to implement in just her first year at the conference; I'm confident that she will excel in this new and expanded role."

Mucci will replace James Hill who after serving for two years as the league's Assistant Commissioner has accepted the role of Sports Information Director at former SCAC member Rhodes College.

"There is no doubt that we will miss James," said Hanberry. "He did quality work and represented the SCAC in a first class manner throughout his 2+ year tenure. We wish him all the best as he moves forward with the next chapter in his professional career."

The conference also announced the addition of Blake Childers, who will join the conference effective Monday, August 24 and assume the title of Sports Information and Multimedia Assistant.

Childers, a recent graduate of Berry College, will handle all video editing and interviewing responsibilities for the SCAC in addition to various sports information duties.

At Berry, Childers was a student assistant in the Sports Information office where he assisted with game operations, including statistics, live video stream and photography. He was also a sports producer and assistant news producer with the College's student-run multimedia website, Viking Fusion. Additionally, Childers has worked with the Rome Braves as an audio-visual intern the past three seasons.

"Blake will be a great addition to the SCAC office and family," said Hanberry. "For someone who just graduated this past spring, he brings a wealth of experience and expertise that we can surely put to good use here at the conference office. I'm excited to offer offer him this opportunity and pleased that he is coming aboard."
