SCAC Women's Cross Country Recap - Week Six

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - 
Seven of the league's nine women’s cross country teams were in action last week, highlighted by the Trinity women taking fifth place in the 41-team Chile Pepper Festival field in Fayetteville, Ark.

The Tigers were the highest placing Division III squad at the meet, led by junior Jordan Juran coming in at 19:01.1 for 22nd place individually. Brianna Ratliff was just 11 seconds behind Juran for 35th place overall. Southwestern was also at the meet and freshman Emma Pertuit led the way for the Pirates in the 352-runner field with a finishing time of 21:09 (169th place). The Pirates did not have enough runners to place.

Sophomore Lucy Wagner led the Colorado College women's cross country team to a 25th-place finish at the Division III Pre-National Meet in Louisville, Ky. She finished 133rd among 255 runners with a time of 22:30.8, followed by sophomore Emly Dwyer (143rd) and Junior Alexia Preston (149th). The Tigers also sent runners to the Metro State Roadrunner Invitationaly, but did not send enough to score. Johnson & Wales University was also at the Roadrunner and finished sixth in a meet filled with mostly Division II schools. Senior Rachel Seligson paced the Wildcats with a 6K time of 27:58.6 to place 69th individually.

The University of Dallas women's cross country team took home a first place finish on its home course at the UD Invitational (5k) on Saturday. Sophomore Anna Wilgenbusch paced the pack winning her fourth consecutive race in as many meets with a time of 19:12.50. Junior Emma Kate Callahan grabbed second place running a time of 22:06.80. Austin College was also at the meet, and although the 'Roos did not have enough runners to score, junior Danielle Lozano and freshman Madison had strong performances, finishing third and fourth in times of 22:16.4 and 23:33.7, respectively.

St. Thomas took third place at the Our Lady of the Lake Invitational on Saturday as sophomore Grace Ringen turned in her strongest performance of the season as she finished fourth overall, crossing the finish line with a time of 21:08.2. Senior Abby Ringen was the next Celt across the finish line, as she completed the 5K race in a time of 22:15.9.

Next week is another busy weekend with harriers from seven squads in action at various meets, including Schreiner and Southwestern at the Southwestern University Pirate Invitational and Texas Lutheran running at the Disney Cross Country Classic.
