Trinity's Daum Named SCAC Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Coach-of-the-Year

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. –- For the second consecutive year, Trinity University's Emily Daum has been selected Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Coach-of-the-Year for both men's and women's cross country in exclusive voting by the head coaches in the conference.

The Texas Tigers swept both the men's and women's team titles on Saturday, October 27 on the campus of Schreiner University in Kerrville, Texas. It was the second consecutive men's title for Trinity, third in the last four years and the fifth overall. The championship on the women's side represents the second straight and the fourth overall for the Tiger program.

In the closest finish since 2013, the Trinity men defeated Colorado College by six points (35-41) at last month's conference championship meet. The Tigers were led by senior Elliot Blake, who earned SCAC Runner of the Year honors with a 25:34.28 finish - the 18th fastest 8K championship time in league history.

On the women's side, Trinity totaled 20 points, including going 1-3 in the event. The 20 point team total is the fifth-lowest in SCAC women's championship history. Tiger senior Molly McCullough became the fifth different runner in school history to earn the SCAC Women's Runner of the Year award after she posted a winning 6K time of 21:51.97 on the championship course.

Next up for the Trinity men and women is a trip to Mount Berry, Ga., for the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Region Championships on November 10. Qualifying Regional entrants will advance to the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships, to be held November 17 in Oshkosh, Wisc.

In her fifth year leading both programs, this is Daum's third time to be honored as SCAC Men's Cross Country Coach-of-the-Year (2015 and 2017). It is her second honor on the women's side (2017).
