ELENA NACCARI OF THE UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS, a freshman goalkeeper from Covington, La., has been selected as the SCAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, October 27th through Sunday, November 2nd.
Naccari marked three saves in the match against the 'Roos, earning her fourth shutout of the season. The shutout helped the Crusaders clinch the third seed in the upcoming SCAC tournament, which would have otherwise gone to the 'Roos.
In 1116:00 minutes in the net, Naccari has marked a team-leading 64 saves, while marking a .753 save percentage.
The Crusaders will play in Friday's second quarterfinal match against Schreiner University. The winner will move onto the semifinals to play the second-seeded Texas Lutheran.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC
Junior defender
Taylor Vatuna of Texas Lutheran helped the
Bulldogs to a shutout of Schreiner University in their regular
season finale. Vatuna also tallied her second assist of the year in
the match. Senior
defender Shelby Hopkins of
Trinity anchored the back line for the
third-ranked Trinity Tigers in their 6-0 shutout of Southwestern
University. The Tigers' defense held the Pirates without a single
shot attempt in the game. Austin
College, Centenary, Schreiner,
and Southwestern did
not nominate anyone.
