ZOE GULICK OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a first-year defender from New Braunfels, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, October 6th through Sunday, October 12th.

Gulick was part of a Bulldog defensive effort that produced two conference shutouts - a 1-0 defeat of Austin College on Friday and a 3-0 blanking of the University of Dallas on Sunday.

In addition to her defensive efforts, Gulick provided the game-winning goal, not to mention tallying her first career assist, in Sunday's victory over Dallas. The victory put TLU in a tie for second place in the points column (15) with both Dallas and Southwestern.

Gulick's goal, which came in the 15th minute of Sunday's contest, was the second of her career.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior goalkeeper Franchesca Lozoya of Austin College had another stellar weekend in goal for the 'Roos, making eight saves and earning one shutout while boasting a .889 save percentage and finishing with a goals-against-average of just 0.5 in two matches. Junior goalkeeper Katherine Rodgers of Southwestern recorded her second straight shutout with a 1-0 win over Centenary on Sunday - the Pirates' only action of the week. Junior midfielder Kimberly Polasek of Trinity led the Tigers to a pair of wins over the past week, allowing just one shot and one goal against Our Lady of the Lake and Centenary. Polasek and the Trinity defense secured the team’s eighth consecutive shutout to start the week on Monday against OLLU, then finished with Friday’s 9-1 win over Centenary. Polasek also contributed offensively, assisting on the first goal of the second half of Monday’s win over the Saints. Centenary, Dallas and Schreiner did not nominate anyone for the award.
