KIMBERLY POLASEK OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior midfielder from Houston, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, October 13th through Sunday, October 19th.
Polasek led third-ranked Trinity to a pair
of SCAC wins over the weekend, defeating Schreiner on the road, and
winning a home game against Texas Lutheran.
Polasek and the Tiger defense yielded just
one shot over the two games, nabbing a shutout at Schreiner in
which the team didn't allow a shot. On Sunday against Texas
Lutheran, Polasek scored a goal in each
half - including the game's first goal in the second minute of
play.
For the season, Polasek has recorded
two goals and four assists for the Tigers, and she has helped lead
a Trinity defense to 10 shutouts in 16 games played.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior
goalkeeper Franchesca Lozoya of Austin
College posted a clean sheet in the 'Roos only
match last week, making three saves in a 2-0 victory over
Centenary. Freshman goalkeeper Elena Naccari of
Dallas allowed one goal in a 5-1 win over
Centenary on Friday. The rookie continues a solid season debut
collecting her fifth win and also nabbed a save in the triumph. She
has started the last eight matches, all in conference, and helped
the Lady Crusaders secure sole possession of second in the
standings. Centenary, Schreiner, Southwestern,
and Trinity did not
nominate anyone.
