MEGAN MORANT OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a freshman goalkeeper from Spring, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player-of-the-Week for matches played from Monday, September 1 through Sunday, September 7.
Morant earned her first shutout of her young career, a 2-0 win over LeTourneau to go 1-0 on the weekend.
Morant picked up four saves on the
afternoon, keeping the YellowJackets off balanced all game long.
For the Mountaineers, they have already matched their win total
from a year ago, moving to 2-1 on the season.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior
defender Anne Claire Cooke of Austin
College started all three matches
at center back and consistently marked the opposing team's top
offensive threats. Freshman defender Ana Gutierrez of
Southwestern played 168 minutes over the
weekend as the Pirates dropped a pair of matches. Junior midfielder Kimberly
Polasek of Trinity picked up assists in
both games over the weekend, including the assist on the game-tying
goal in the second half at Emory. Centenary, Dallas and Texas
Lutheran did not nominate
anyone.
