LILI MCENTIRE
OF SOUTHWESTERN UNIVERSITY has been selected
the SCAC Character & Community Female
Student-Athlete-of-the-Week for the week ending April 11, 2010.
McEntire, a junior from Smithville, Texas, is
a co-captain of the Pirates' women's track and
field team.
A Communications Major who has been a Dean's List honoree each
semester at Southwestern, McEntire is a
member of Lambda Pi Eta, a Communications Honor Society, and
currently serves as the organization's President. She is also
a Paideia Scholar and was recently named the Communications Studies
Citizen of the Year.
She has also served in leadership roles on campus with Delta Delta
Delta Sorority as Reference Chair and with the Southwestern
University Student Foundation as both Planning Chair and Vice
Chair.
McEntire also serves as an Event Planner for the
University Programming Council. In this capacity, she has helped to
coordiate campus events such as concerts, comedians and other
performance groups and also worked to create new and creative
ways to publicize these events.
She has serves as a coordinator with SHARP - Students Helping the
Admission Recruiting Process - at Southwestern. In this role, she
helps to coordinate prospective student visits with faculty and
students and also serves as an SU Ambassador for campus tours.
Off campus, McEntire studied abroad at
Universidad de Guanajuato in Guanajuanto, Mexico during the summer
of 2008.
This past summer, she served as an Event Planning Intern with the
Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central and South Texas - helping to
coordinate wishes and planning departure and welcome back parties
for involved families.
