KRISTEN MCMAHON OF DEPAUW UNIVERSITY, a senior forward on the women's soccer team, has been selected the SCAC Character & Community Female Student-Athlete-of-the-Week for the week ending November 8, 2009.

The Hilliard, Ohio, resident, is the lone senior for the Tigers this year, but suffered a season-ending injury in the preseason after earning varsity letters in each of her first three seasons. McMahon is majoring in mathematics while minoring in Spanish and education studies. A two-time SCAC Academic Honor Roll selection and named to DePauw's Dean's List, McMahon is part of DePauw's Information Technology Associates Program.

In her first three seasons she's played in 55 games, scored seven goals and assisted on one. She was the Tigers' Freshman of the Year as well as the Most Valuable Offensive Player as a sophomore.

Since 2007, McMahon has served as the DePauw Community Service Coordinator for Greencastle's Head Start Program. In that role, she recruits and coordinates University volunteers to provide classroom assistance for the program. Through her leadership, the number of volunteers has risen from five to 20 each semester. She personally volunteers one to two hours per week in the classroom.

McMahon is also a Civics Fellow and, for three years, has served as coordinator of The Giving Tree which provides holiday gifts to over 20 low-income families. She also has held three vice-president positions with the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and is currently the vice-president for administration. She also currently serves as the Order of Omega president and the Web director at DePauw's student-run radio station, WGRE.

McMahon has spent the last two summers as a camp counselor including Camp Akeela in Vermont where she was responsible for 10 autistic girls ages 12-16.
