ANDREA DE LEON OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior from Mission, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women's Tennis Singles Player of the Week for matches played Sunday, April 1st.
De Leon went 1-0 this past week at line two singles, as the team took on #37 ranked UT-Tyler. She played an strong match against Alexis Arrieta, the #23 ranked singles player in the west region, and hung on to take a close 6-4, 6-7 (4-7) 10-7 win to allow the Tigers to sweep the Patriots.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Mary Cardone of Southwestern University went 1-0 at #1 singles last week, winning 6-0, 6-1 over TLU's top player. Senior Alli McLain of Texas Lutheran University became the third Bulldog women's tennis player to reach 100 career combined wins (singles and doubles) with a No. 1 singles victory Tuesday against Colby College.
