CAROLINE KUTACH OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior from McGregor, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women's Tennis Singles Player of the Week for matches played through Sunday, February 18th.
Kutach easily defeated her opponent 6-1, 6-2 at line one singles in the Tigers' matchup against Division II St. Edward's. Her opponent, Laura Galvan, ended the 2017 season as the ninth-ranked singles player in the Division II South Central Region.
She is now on a six match win streak at the top spot for Trinity.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman Melody Duong of Austin College was dominant in her only match last week, winning 6-2, 6-2 in line one singles against Whitworth University. Sophomore Mary Cardone of Southwestern University won 6-3, 6-0 over her opponent from UT-Permian Basin. Freshman Mary Eby of Texas Lutheran University won the decisive singles match in the Bulldogs' 5-4 home win against Concordia Texas, winning 6-7 (4), 7-6 (6), 1-0 (10-5).
