EMILY REED TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior first baseman from Flower Mound, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Player of the Week for games played from Monday, April 15th through Sunday, April 21st.
Reed led Trinity to a road SCAC series victory at Schreiner last weekend, winning each of the final three games after dropping the opener. Reed batted 5-for-11 (.455) for the week, scoring three runs and tallying a team-best eight RBI. She hit home runs in back-to-back games to close out the series on Saturday, tying her career-high with four RBI in the series finale. For the season, Reed is hitting .308 (20-65) with 10 runs and 19 RBI. She has two doubles and is tied for the team lead with three home runs.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior utility player Kassie Maddox of Texas Lutheran hit .833 in a two-game road sweep of Centenary College on Friday. Maddox belted two home runs in the second game and drove in four runs. She was 3-for-3 in the late game with three runs scored. She was 2-for-3 with a run scored and a double in the early game. Her slugging percentage in the two games was 2.000.
