SYDNEY HURLEY OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a senior catcher from Diboll, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Player of the Week for games played from Monday, March 11th through Sunday, March 17th.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior Gabriella Acuna of Schreiner was outstanding in the series sweep of Dallas with nine total hits, including three multi-hit games. Additionally, Acuna scored a run and drove in another to lead Schreiner at the plate. Junior utility player Katie Bricarell of Southwestern batted .250 (1-for-4) with an RBI as the Pirates split a twin bill against No. 24 Transylvania last week. Freshman second baseman Casey Martin of Texas Lutheran went 8-for-13 (.615) against No. 24 Transylvania and No. 6 East Texas Baptist this past week in Seguin. Martin was 6-for-7 in the doubleheader against Transylvania with three runs scored and three RBI. She was 2-for-6 against ETBU with a triple and three RBI. Senior outfielder Devon Potter of Trinity led the Tigers to a 3-2 record at the Tucson Invitational Games during Spring Break last week. Potter batted a team-leading .417 (5-12) with two RBI and four runs scored over the five games, hitting a double and a triple to boost her slugging percentage to .667.
