ALYSSA MAKI OF SCHREINER UNIVERSITY, a senior shortstop from Houston, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Player of the Week for games played from Monday, March 18th through Sunday, March 24th.
Maki continued her outstanding season, leading the Mountaineers in a sweep of Austin College last weekend and extending the Schreiner win streak to eight, the longest in the SCAC era in program history. Maki batted .615, pounding out eight hits, seven RBI, seven runs scored, four stolen bases and a slugging percentage of 1.000. Maki registered multiple hits in all four games, scored a run in all four contests and produced three multiple RBI games during the series.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior infielder Margeaux Smith of Centenary was outstanding at the plate for an offense that produced 31 runs combined in a four-game sweep of Dallas. Smith batted .750 (9-for-12) with six runs scored, two doubles, two RBI, two stolen bases and a .917 slugging percentage. Senior infielder Celeste Silvas of Southwestern steered the ship for the Pirates at the plate, producing a .381 batting average with eight hits, seven runs scored, six RBI, three stolen bases and a slugging percentage of .476 as SU went 6-0 last week in non-conference competition. Junior second baseman Madisyn Cates of Texas Lutheran pounded out 10 hits, accounted for six RBI and scored six runs to lead the Bulldogs to a four-game sweep of Trinity last weekend.
