TAYLOR GRISSOM OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a junior right handed pitcher Spring, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week for games played through Sunday, April 12th.
Grissom raised her 2015 pitching record to 14-0 and lowered her 2015 ERA to 0.39 with a pair of victories this past weekend against second-place Southwestern.
Grissom pitched six innings in the series opener and allowed just four hits and no runs. Grissom pitched all five innings in the second game and allowed just two hits and no runs.
The Bulldogs have now won a school record 26 games in a row as well as 30 straight SCAC matchups.
Grissom leads the conference in ERA and opponents batting average (.153). She is second in the conference in wins and shutouts (5).
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore pitcher Katie Lee of Dallas had a solid weekend as Dallas swept Schreiner University, and tied a program-record 20 wins. The sophomore from Houston, Texas, picked up all four victories to extend a career-high and single-season University of Dallas record to 19. Junior pitcher Kaci Wellik of Trinity picked up two wins and a save to lead Trinity to a 5-1 overall record last week, capped off by a four-game SCAC series sweep against Schreiner. Wellik was 2-0 with an ERA of 1.00 last week, recording 16 strikeouts in 14.0 innings, and giving up just two runs on 11 hits. Austin College did not play. Centenary, Schreiner, and Southwestern did not nominate anyone.
