KATIE
GLOMB OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore
right handed pitcher/first baseman from Waco, Texas, has been
selected the SCAC Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week for games played
through Sunday, February 8th.
Glomb salvaged a split in the opening
doubleheader of the season for the Trinity softball team against
Hardin-Simmons, earning the complete-game victory in game two.
Glomb gave up just four hits in her seven innings of work, and allowed just two unearned runs in the top of the seventh - just missing a shot at her first career shutout. She struck out three batters in the game, earning her first career victory.
Last season, Glomb held a 7.45 ERA in seven appearances, pitching just 10.1 innings, and striking out five batters. She did not record a decision in her first season with the Tigers, allowing 13 total runs.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore
pitcher Veny Pizana of Texas Lutheran tossed 5-1/3
innings against Louisiana College in the Bulldogs' season-opening
3-1 victory and picked up the pitching win against the Wildcats.
Pizana, a sophomore right-hander, scattered six hits and allowed
the one earned run. She struck out four and walked three. In the
Bulldogs' 3-1 loss to No. 6-ranked UT Tyler, Pizana went five
innings and allowed just four hits and three earned runs. For the
weekend, she was 1-1 with a 2.71 ERA in 10.1 innings pitched. Dallas and Southwestern did
not nominate anyone. Austin College, Centenary, and Schreiner did not
play.
