Southwestern stayed true to form by scoring in the first inning once again. After setting the Tigers down in order the Pirates got to work. Aly Pulver drew a lead-off walk to get things started and Blair Wallace was safe at first on her sacrifice bunt attempt after an error on ETBU's catcher. After ETBU secured two outs designated player Kaitlyn Pavlicek wasn't going to let the baserunners go to waste and singled to centerfield bring home Wallace from second base.

The Tigers tied up the game in the third inning when Meier hit a two-out RBI single up the middle to bring in Brey who reached on a Pirate error.

The score remained tied 1-1 through the rest of the game despite each team getting runners on base but were unable to bring them around.

Southwestern pulled ahead in the bottom of the sixth, taking a crucial 3-1 lead late in the contest. Haley Hughes started things off with a single up the middle and pinch runner Taylor Blair advanced to second on a wild pitch. Kara Solomon came in to pinch hit for pitcher Lyndsy Maus and singled through the left side after fouling off three straight with a full count.

After an ETBU pitching change Southwestern had runners at the corners with just one out. Taylor Turpin's ground ball got Blair out for the second out of the inning. Four straight balls to Bre Lewis loaded the bases for Amanda Ambrose who reached safely on an error by the pitcher and allowed the two go-ahead runs to cross the plate for SU. The Pirates were just three outs away from taking the win once again.

Maus worked back from a 3-0 count to get the first hitter, Young to fly out to left field and then walked Wright on four straight pitches, putting a runner on first. Havner followed with a single to left field and put the tying runs on first and second for the Tigers. Wright scored on a single through the left side to pull ETBU within one run and leaving runners at first and second for pinch hitter Edwards.

Maus struck out Edwards for an important second out and brought up eight-hole hitter Brey. Brey's infield single to third base kept runners from scoring but left the bases loaded. Nine-hole hitter Meier grounded out to Pulver at second base, closing out the close game for Southwestern.

Hughes led the way at the plate going 2-3 on the afternoon. Maus earner her second win of the tournament going all seven innings, allowing five hits, two runs (one earned), while walking two and striking out five.

The Pirates advance in the winner's bracket while ETBU falls to the loser's bracket and face an elimination game later this evening. SU gets the host institution and current #1 team in the nation Louisiana College in the next game.
