GREENCASTLE, Ind. - Emma Minx's two-run double off the fence in left in the top of the eighth lifted second-seeded DePauw to an 8-6 winner's bracket victory over sixth-seeded Transylvania at the Greencastle, Indiana Regional in the NCAA Division III Softball Championship. BOX SCORE

With the win, the Tigers improved to 37-6 and advanced to the winner's bracket final where they'll face top-seed Ohio Northern tomorrow at 2 p.m. The Pioneers dropped to 35-10 and face Trine at Noon on Saturday in an elimination game.

DePauw's Brianne Weeks reached on a fielder's choice in the eighth before Jen Kosinski walked and Minx ripped the two-bagger.

Jen Kosinski's double down the left field line in the first scored Rachel MacBeth and Minx's sacrifice fly in the third plated Brianne Weeks. Holly Paris added a two-run, two-out single in the fifth to make it 4-0.

Tigers' starter Megan Soultz faced just one over the minimum through the first five innings, but the Pioneers scored five in the sixth. Alicia Winans led off with a single to left and Ashley Pait followed with a bunt single.

DePauw recorded a force at third on Anne Broadhead's bunt, but a bunt single by Emily McCarty loaded the bases. Megan Mitchell hit a grounder to third and the Tigers notched the second out as they retired Pait on a force at the plate for the second out. Michelle Lidanyi followed with an infield hit which scored Broadhead, but an error on the play at second allowed McCarty to score and closed the DePauw lead to 4-2.

A failed pickoff attempt at second allowed Mitchell and Lidanyi to move to third and second, respectively, and Jessica Pierce tied the game with a single to left. Kendra DeArk followed with a triple to right which gave Transylvania a 5-4 lead.

Kosinski reached on an error in the seventh before Minx and Hallett walked to load the bases. Ashlee Anton hit a ball back to the circle, but the Pioneers couldn't record the final out and both Kosinski and Minx scored on the play, give the Tigers a 6-5 lead.

Pait had an infield single in the bottom of the seventh and stole second before Broadhead singled through the right side to tie the game. After walking McCarty, Soultz retired Mitchell and Ladanyi and forced extra innings.

MacBeth had three of DePauw's nine hits, while Weeks and Kosinski had two each. Mitchell and Pait each had two of the Pioneers' 10 hits.

Soultz improved to 26-4 and moved into third place on Division III's career innings pitched list. DeArk dropped to 22-5 with the loss.
