SCAC Men's Cross Country Recap - Week Six

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Five of the league's seven Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's cross country teams were in action this past week.

Three of those five were at the University of the Incarnate Word Invitational which saw SCAC teams finish fourth, fifth and sixth among the non-Division I programs.

Trinity was fourth with a score of 104, Southwestern followed in fifth with a score of 126 and Schreiner placed sixth with a score of 177.

Southwestern freshman Joshua Im was the top individual finishers among SCAC student-athletes. He navigated the 8K course in a time of 26:34 to earn a 13th-place finish. Trinity freshman Joseph Campbell was just behind in 15th-place with a finishing time of 26:39. Additionally, Trinity junior Daniel Henkes (27:15 - 18th) and Southwestern sophomore John Hattan (27:16 - 19th) posted top-20 finishes. 

Schreiner senior Danny Gonzalez (29:08 - 32nd) was the top finisher for the Mountaineers. 

Running as the only Division III proram in the meet, the Colorado College men finished in 17th place at Fort Hays State Tiger Open. The Tigers were paced by freshmen Peter Callan, who finished 51st overall with an 8K time of 25:36.3. Fellow freshmen Tony Calderon and Jack Williams placed 95th (26:22.0) and 120th (26:47.2), respectively.

At the University of the Ozarks Invitational, Dallas placed fifth among 10 teams. The Crusaders were led for the third straight meet by sophomore Thomas Hogan who ran a personal 8K record with a 26:55.4 result and a 12th-place finish.

The Texas Lutheran men were scheduled to run at the Disney Cross Country Classic in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., but the event was cancelled due to Hurricane Matthew.
