LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Four of the league's seven Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's cross country teams were in action this past week.
The host institution, along with the University of Dallas, competed at the Texas Lutheran University Bulldog Invitational with the two finishing 1-2 in the competition among four collegiate programs. TLU earned first place with a score of 30, while Dallas finished behind with 44. Concordia University (Texas) rounded out the top three with a score of 54.
Individually, Dallas' Thomas Hogan finished second with a time of 16.33.99, just behind University of Incarnate Word's Deion Hardy (16.32.6). Freshman John James finished fourth and improved by four seconds to set a new personal best with a time of 16:48.31.
For TLU, junior Rudolph Calderon paced the Bulldogs with a fifth-place overall finish, posting a time of 16:51.53 over the 3.05 mile course (just short of a 5K).
Colorado College's top five scorers at the Woody Greeno Invitational consisted of four freshmen and a sophomore as the Tigers finished fifth in the collegiate division. The Tigers were led for the third consecutive weekend by freshman Tony Calderon, the reigning SCAC Runner of the Week who finished 76th overall with an 8K time of 28 minutes, 7.6 seconds.
Led by Danny Gonzales, the Schreiner men placed third among non-Division I teams at the TAMUCC Splash Invitational on Friday. The senior ran the 8K course in 31:43 for a 15th place finish.
