  • SCAC announces Spring 2011 Student-Athlete Academic Honor Roll

    SUWANEE, Ga. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) named a record 1,109 student-athletes to the 2011 SCAC Spring Academic Honor Roll on Thursday. This year's total eclipsed last year's previous record of 1,077 student-athletes.

    SUWANEE, Ga. – In an expected announcement made today at the annual spring meeting of the league’s Board of Directors, the Presidents of Birmingham-Southern College, Centre College, Hendrix College, Millsaps College, Oglethorpe University, Rhodes College and Sewanee-The University of the South declared their intent to withdraw from the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference effective June 30, 2012.

    ATLANTA, Ga. - The Oglethorpe University athletics department is pleased to announce the hiring of Aaron Nester to the position of head women’s basketball coach, effective immediately. Nester, who has spent the last five seasons as the assistant coach at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, brings a total of nine years experience at the Division III level to the Stormy Petrel women’s basketball program.

Three other SCAC student-athletes were named second team with two more being named third team all-region.

Sattele took a leave of absence in December to assist with illnesses in his family and has decided to continue to be with them in this time of need.

The DU Tigers earned the leagues only birth in the NCAA Tournament and will face off against Hope College in the first round Friday night at 7:30 PM from Holland, Michigan.

    SUWANEE, Ga. - Facing a winner-take-all situation on Sunday, Colorado College's Alyssa Aldaz scored 14 points in her final home appearance to help CC defeat Millsaps College, 64-56, to claim the fourth seed from the West. Becky Luetjen finished with 13 points and a game-high nine rebounds to move up to eighth place on Colorado College's all-time scoring list with 1,097 points and up to 12th place with 577 rebounds. The Tigers won all seven conference games at Reid Gymnasium this year.
