SAN ANTONIO, Texas - A number of Tiger student-athletes volunteered at the Olmos Park Fiesta Frolic on Sunday, April 10. Located near Trinity, on the city of Olmos Park's Alameda Circle, members of various athletic teams served a number of roles at the family-oriented event.

Lauren Hickey (women's basketball), former president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, organized her fellow Tigers, at the behest of Olmos Park resident and Department of Athletics secretary Jennifer Harper.

Included in the SAAC event were players from the men's and women's tennis teams, volleyball, and women's basketball.

Trinity student-athletes helped set up tables, hang decorations, and assisted the many food and drink vendors. The annual celebration welcomed over 500 area residents.

"The students were amazing, and very polite," Harper said. "The children got a huge kick out of meeting all of the athletes. "

All of the Tiger student-athletes had a marvelous time at the Fiesta-style event, which included a visit from King Antonio LXXXIX .

As Trinity women's tennis Coach Ryan Takao said, though, community service was their primary mission.

"We decided to volunteer because we want our teams to give back to the wonderful San Antonio Community," Takao said. "This was a great chance to show our appreciation."
