Austin College had a good weekend, earning a pair of dramatic victories against Hendrix in the team’s only two games of the week. In game one the ‘Roos found themselves trailing 7-1 before coming all the way back to earn a 9-8 victory, and in game two the ‘Roos got a walk off RBI single from Mary Whitworth for an 8-7 win to bring the team’s overall record to 4-3 on the year. Whitworth had an outstanding weekend at the plate, batting .714 with two doubles and two RBI, and Sophia Hernandez continued her torrid start to the season at the plate, batting .429 with two home runs and five runs batted in. Hernandez also earned the game one victory on the mound, while Victoria Herrera got the win in game two while striking out eight batters in a complete game performance. 

Centenary dropped a doubleheader at Millsaps over the weekend to fall to 0-4 this season. Cadie Hancock, Lynsi Unruh, Mary Ann Allison and Amber Smith each logged two hits in the twinbill. The foursome represented eight of the Ladies’ 12 hits on the afternoon while Hancock drove in two of the Maroon and White’s runs with Allison and Laura Perriloux providing the other two.Perriloux posted a 6.75 ERA in two appearances to pace the Ladies in the circle. Unruh suffered the other loss in the circle allowing seven runs in just two innings on the rubber. Centenary returns to action this weekend as the Ladies host Evangel University and LSU-Alexandria.


Dallas went 2-2 on the week in four home games. On Tuesday, in Irving, Texas, head coach Beth Krysiak’s squad won 6-3 (F/7) and then 7-0 (F/7) over Southwestern Assemblies of God University. On Sunday, the Lady Crusaders fell 7-6 (F/7) and then 11-5 (F/7) to Hendrix College-Ark. Dallas hosts the University of Texas-Dallas on Tuesday in a 4 p.m. doubleheader. The navy and white travel to Jackson, Miss., to oppose Millsaps College-Miss. on Saturday in a 12 p.m. doubleheader.

Schreiner went 2-2 in their opening weekend, splitting with Northwood (3-1, 1-9), and a 5-6 loss to Alma.  Schreiner will play Lyndon State and Hanover on Monday, Feb 24th in Florida and return to host Our Lady of the Lake on Wednesday, Feb. 26th.

Southwestern went 2-2 in games at home this weekend to move to 3-7 on the year. The Pirates posted a run rule win in game one 8-0, and then turned around and lost in extra innings 6-5. Nationally-ranked Houston Victoria came to town on Sunday and Southwestern struggled offensively in game one, falling 6-0, before turning things around late in game two for a come behind win 5-4. The Pirates hit the road for a rematch against Concordia on Tuesday and then return home to take on Our Lady of the Lake Saturday and Calumet on Sunday. 

Texas Lutheran split a road doubleheader Tuesday against Mary Hardin-Baylor, dropping the first game 5-1 before rallying to take game two 7-1. The Bulldogs roared back in a big way in the second game after the offense was held in check in the game one. The big blow came in the fourth inning with the Bulldogs putting a five-spot on the board to open up a 7-1 lead they would hold through the rest of the game. Samantha Yenne earned the decision in the second game, making her first career start and going five innings while allowing just one run on two hits and two walks. The freshman struck out two on the day. The first game ended up in Mary Hardin-Baylor’s favor 5-1, despite the Bulldogs matching the Crusaders with nine hits apiece. The difference came in the eight runners TLU left on base compared to three for UMHB.


Trinity did not play this week, but will be back in action on Tuesday, February 25, for a doubleheader at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor.  The games will begin at 3:00 p.m., and will be the only action of the week for Trinity.  The team returns home March 8, facing off against Calumet College of St. Joseph at 1:00 p.m.
