LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. – Just days after helping lead her team to its first ever NCAA Division III Tournament and being named the SCAC Player of the Year, Texas Lutheran softball player Ashley Jacobsen was named to the Capital One Academic All-District squad on Thursday. COSIDA Release
The College Sports Information Directors of America announced that Jacobsen earned a place on the NCAA Division III District 8 All-Academic squad.
For Jacobsen, Thursday's announcement marked the second straight year she's earned Academic All-District. She has tallied a 3.75 grade-point average through the Fall 2013 semester while majoring in accounting.
Jacobsen was the only SCAC softball player to earn a spot on the District 8 Academic All-District squad.
While excelling in the classroom, Jacobsen has also been a lynchpin for the Bulldogs' offense, earning the conference Player of the Year honors after a season in which she hit a league-leading .489, ranking her 26th nationally.
She also led the SCAC in hits (68) and stolen bases (18), while finishing second in RBI (33).
Jacobsen is one of just 13 student-athletes to earn a spot on the Division III District 8 Academic All-District squad. District 8 consists of 21 different states, as well as Canada.
Academic All-District honorees advance to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second-, and third-team All-America honorees will be selected later this month.
