  • SCAC announces Spring 2012 Student-Athlete Academic Honor Roll

    SUWANEE, Ga. - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) named 1,040 student-athletes to the 2012 SCAC Spring Academic Honor Roll on Wednesday. This year's total is the third-highest for a single period in the history of the award.

    TYLER, Texas - Making its first-ever NCAA post-season appearance, the Birmingham-Southern softball team fell to No. 13 Redlands, 6-4, in game two of the UT Tyler Regional today in Tyler, Texas. BSC will play tomorrow at 11 a.m. in the elimination game, taking on either No. 4 Pacific Lutheran or in-state rival Huntingdon. A loss will send the Panthers home, while a win keeps them alive to play at 6:30 p.m. tomorrow.

    JACKSON, Tenn. – In the bottom of the 10th inning of the deciding game, freshman Taylor Bassett of Birmingham-Southern College hit a walk off two-run homerun to give the Panthers its first-ever SCAC Softball Championship, 3-1. Bassett’s performance helped earn BSC the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference’s automatic bid into the NCAA Championships in the Panthers first-ever appearance at the SCAC Tournament.

For a stretch of 12 years - from the early 1990s to the mid 2000s - that bell (with the exception of one year - 2000-01) resided on the campus of Trinity University.

    JACKSON, Tenn. – In exclusive 2012 all-Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) voting by the league’s head coaches, Ashley Bice of Birmingham-Southern College, Caitlynn Dykes of Trinity University and Allison Tarbox of Millsaps College were selected as the Conference’s Tri-Offensive Players-of-the-Year and Bethany Fronk of Birmingham-Southern was selected the conference’s Pitcher-of-the-Year. Dykes was also named the league’s Newcomer-of-the-Year.
