SAN ANTONIO, Texas - Trinity junior softball student-athlete Karen MacPherson has broken the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) record for career stolen bases. She broke the record previously held by Centre's Lindsey Willett from 2005-08, who had 68 stolen bases.

MacPherson is already the Trinity record-holder for career steals, a record which she broke during her sophomore season.  As a first-year player, MacPherson set the Trinity single season record with 31 steals, which is the third-highest total in conference history.

MacPherson currently has 70 stolen bases in her career, 10 of which have come this season.  She has been caught stealing just seven times in her career - including just twice all of last season.  She stole 29 bases last year, which is the second-most in school history (behind her own record), and the fourth-highest in the SCAC.

In addition to her baserunning prowess, MacPherson is a career .359 hitter, and has batted leadoff for all 91 games Trinity has played since she was a first-year player.  This sesaon, she became the 12th player in school history to record 100 hits in a career, and is currently tied for eighth all-time.

Trinity is 5-13 this season, though eight of the team's losses have come by two runs or fewer.  The Tigers return to action Saturday at the University of Dallas, for a non-conference doubleheader.  Trinity returns home next Friday against Hardin-Simmons, and will play eight home games to finish off the month of March.
