JACKSON, Tenn. – The West Tennessee Healthcare Sportsplex in Jackson has been selected to host the 2012 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Softball Championship. The NCAA Division III league will conduct its championship April 27-29. Six teams from the SCAC member schools will compete for the conference title and a berth in the national tournament.
The 11-game tournament will bring in a number of out-of-state visitors to the Jackson area where local restaurants, hotels, and retail stores will be directly impacted. All games will be played in Complex D at the Sportsplex, located at 250 BancorpSouth Parkway, and will have tickets available at the gates.
"We are excited to work with the West Tennessee Healthcare Sportsplex to finalize an agreement to hold the 2012 SCAC championship in the city of Jackson," said SCAC Commissioner Dwayne Hanberry. "I'm confident that our student-athletes, coaches, and fans will be treated to a first-class experience."
"We're pleased that our reputation for combining great facilities with great service has spread to the collegiate community," said Sportsplex Director of Operations Ricky Yates. "Anything we can do to bring people and quality events to Jackson, we will continue to pursue. This will provide the Jackson area with tremendous exposure to the sport of collegiate softball."
