SEGUIN, Texas - Colorado College successfully defended its Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Men’s Cross Country Championship Saturday, and Tiger junior Jackson Brainerd won the individual title for the second straight year. Individual Results | Team Results
In the Trinity University-hosted event, held on the campus of
Texas Lutheran University, Colorado College scored 57 points in the
10-team meet. DePauw was runner-up (72), and Rhodes placed third
(74). Centre finished fourth (94), and host Trinity was fifth
(99).
In sixth place was Southwestern (162), Sewanee came in seventh
(164), and Hendrix was eighth (198). Oglethorpe finished in ninth
place (296) and Millsaps was 10th (310).
Centre senior Clinton Cahall of Georgetown, Ohio, placed second (25.20.4), and Colorado College senior Andrew Wagner of Wellesley, Mass., was third (25:35.9).
Rhodes senior Chris Moore of Southlake, Texas was fourth (25:46.5), DePauw sophomore Noah Droddy of Indianapolis placed fifth (25:52.7), and DePauw senior Nick Pucillo of Cincinnati was sixth (25:54.4).
Finishing seventh (25:56.1) was Trinity junior Robert Edmonds of San Antonio, and DePauw junior Pete Richard of Hinsdale, Ill., was eighth (25:58.7). In ninth place (26:00.9) was Southwestern sophomore Sam Martinez of San Antonio, and Trinity senior Adam Cribb, also of San Antonio, was 10th (26:04.6).
Rounding out the top-14 finishers, who earned All-SCAC honors, were Sewanee junior John Gilmer of Mobile, Ala. (26:07.0); Sewanee sophomore Clay Bond of Atlanta (26:07.2); Rhodes junior Cody Beatty of Lewisville, Texas (26:08.8); and Rhodes senior Josh Deaton of Danielsville, Ga. (26:08.9). Centre’s John Kieffer of Dublin, Ohio, placed 15th, with a time of 26:09.4, and was named the SCAC Men’s Cross Country Freshman Runner of the Year.
After the race SCAC Director of Communications Russell Kramer caught up with the top three men's finishers.
