JAKE MARTIN OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a junior outfielder from Edmond, Okla., has been named the SCAC Baseball Offensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, March 25th. 

Martin led #2 Trinity to a three-game SCAC weekend sweep, winning three lopsided games at Austin College.

Martin posted his best week of the season so far with an astounding 8-13 (.615) performance at the plate, hitting three home runs in the first two games of the series. Martin also had 10 RBI and six runs scored in the three games, posting a slugging percentage of 1.308 for the series. Martin began the weekend with a 4-4 performance in game one, hitting a pair of home runs on his way to three runs and seven RBI. His seven RBI are tied for the sixth-most in school history for a single game. He followed that first game with a 3-for-5 day that included three more RBI and two runs scored. He also went deep for the second straight game.

For the season, Martin has raised his batting average to .316 (24-76) and is tied for the team lead with four home runs. Martin is now second among Tiger hitters with 22 RBI, adding 20 runs scored in 18 games played.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior first baseman/outfielder Luke Boylson of the University of Dallas batted .500 in the SCAC weekend series, and knocked two home runs and a triple. Sophomore outfielder Byron Dowdell II of Southwestern University helped the Pirates to a series win last week, hitting a walk off home run in the first of three games. Senior outfielder Riley Schaefer of Texas Lutheran University went 7-for-11 (.636) at the plate in his three games to help the Bulldogs to a series sweep of the University of Chicago.
