MATTHEW LEMON OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a senior outfielder from Caldwell, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Offensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday February 4th.
Lemon finished Bulldogs' season-opening doubleheader with a .429 batting average, leading the team to a pair of wins over Pacific Lutheran University.
Lemon totaled three runs and drove in two RBI over the weekend. Of his three hits, Lemon hit a solo home run in game one to open scoring and hit a triple in game two.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior infielder Andrew Russell of Centenary College had a hit and run in each of the Gents games over the weekend, hitting .353 through the four games. Sophomore third-baseman Nathan Patton of the University of Dallas batted .600 in the Crusaders opening weekend, recording a career-high five RBI in the series finale. Senior outfielder Kyle Baird of Schreiner University hit .429 with a pair of doubles and three RBI to help the Mountaineers to a 1-2 opening weekend.
