Michael Goodrich, Trinity University, Offensive Player of the Week (Week 7)

MICHAEL GOODRICH OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a sophomore catcher from Gilbert, Ariz., has been named the SCAC Baseball Offensive Player of the Week for games played through Sunday, March 18th. 

Goodrich led fifth-ranked Trinity to a 4-0 week that included a three-game SCAC series sweep at home against Southwestern over the weekend. Goodrich went 6-11 (.545) at the plate in his three games, though he did all of his damage in the series against the Pirates. In the series, he slugged 2.000.

Playing in two of the three SCAC games, Goodrich hit .750 (6-8) with a double and three home runs, as well as piling up five runs scored and eight RBI. In the series opener against the Pirates, Goodrich went 3-4 with a double and a homer, scoring two runs and driving in three more in an 11-1 Tiger win.

In the series finale, he was 3-4 with two long balls, adding three runs scored to his five RBI in a 13-0 shutout.

For the season, Goodrich is second on the team with a .409 batting average, collecting 18 hits in 44 at-bats. He is now tied for the team lead with three homers and 18 RBI, and is the outright leader with six doubles. Goodrich has also scored 13 runs and holds a team-best on-base percentage of .500, as well as a team-leading .795 slugging percentage.

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior infielder Brett Taff of Austin College had a big week at the plate, batting .588 with a .667 on-base percentage and a .706 slugging percentage in five games as the 'Roos went 3-2. Sophomore utility player Cody Crowder of Centenary College hit .500 for the week, including 8-for-14 in helping the Gents sweep Dallas. Sophomore third baseman Nathan Patton of the University of Dallas reached double figures for hits (10-18) with a double, two home runs, five RBIs, and four runs scored in the Crusaders' four games last week. Junior catcher Colby Schmidt of Southwestern University hit .364 last week with five RBI, including a 3-for-3 performance against Blackburn. Senior outfielder Matthew Lemon of Texas Lutheran University went a combined 4-for-10 with one run scored in the three-game conference series against Schreiner University, collecting a triple, a double, and one stolen base in this week's play.
