BRUCE MAXWELL
OF BIRMINGHAM-SOUTHERN COLLEGE, a 6-2, 225-pound
first-year first baseman from Toney, Ala., has been named the SCAC
Offensive Baseball Player-of-the-Week for games played Monday,
March 29 through Sunday, April 4.
In five games, Maxwell hit a blistering 10-for-19
at the plate for a.526 batting average while driving in 12 runs,
hitting five homeruns and scoring eight runs on the week. He also
hit two doubles during the week.
In the March 30 game against NAIA Loyola (La.), Maxwell was 3-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, one double and a homerun. He collected multi-hit games in three of five games. He also posted a 1.421 slugging percentage to along with an on base percentage of .571 to tally a 1.992 OPS (on base plus slugging) percentage. Maxwell homered in each game.
For the week, Maxwell posted a .667 batting average (6-for-9) against SCAC competition. He also added five runs, five RBI, and three homeruns in three league games.
