ALEX RICHEY OF
OGLETHORPE UNIVERSITY has been selected the SCAC
Character & Community Male Student-Athlete-of-the-Week for the
week ending January 3, 2010.
Richey, a junior men's basketball player from
Alpharetta, Georgia, who is currently third in the SCAC
in scoring, averaging 16.8 points per game, is an outstanding
student-athlete both on and off the court for the Stormy
Petrels.
In addition to his leadership on the hardwood,
Richey is a second-year Resident Assistant at
Oglethorpe, and is also the president of his SAE fraternity which
helps raise money for Cancer research through the C.U.R.E.
Foundation.
Richey also works closely with the Boys and Girls
Club of America, and is a member of the Oglethorpe Petrel Council.
Recently, he was selected to be on the Oglethorpe Board of Trustees
Standing Committee to help advise Board members from a student
perspective.
