SCAC Women's Cross Country Recap - Week Two

LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Five of the league's seven Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference women's cross country teams were in action this past week.

Among the second week highlights, and with four SCAC teams competing, the Trinity University women captured their second consecutive meet by winning the Our Lady of the Lake University Invitational Saturday morning at Windcrest Golf Course. 

Led by sophomore Molly McCullough, the Tigers brought home first place in the 5K event, scoring 20 points in the seven-team field. Texas A&M-Kingsville was the closest competitor, with 69 points.

McCullough covered the 5K course in a time of 18:46. Her teammate and junior Emma MacEachern finished in second with a time of 19:11.

Austin College came in fourth place with a team score of 86 while Southwestern University and Schreiner University followed in fifth and sixth place, respectively, with scores of 130 and 166.

The #16th-ranked Colorado College women, led by seniors Leah Wessler and Stefani Messick finished in third-place finish at the Tigers' CC Invitational at North Monument Valley Park.
 
Wessler, the reigning two-time SCAC individual champion, finished in 11th place overall and eighth among collegiate runners by covering the 6K course in 23:34. Messick, meanwhile, was 20th overall and 16th in the college field with a time 23:58.
