Rhodes' Shankman named South/Southeast Region Coach of the Year

NEW ORLEANS, La. - Rhodes College head cross country coach Robert Shankman was named United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III South/Southeast region coach of the year for the second consecutive year, the USTFCCCA announced.

Shankman's Lynx squad captured program's second consecutive South/Southeast regional championship, a four point win over regional rival Emory University. Rhodes, on its home course, placed four runners in the top-15 (Taylor Stephens, Anna Johnson, Maddie Harrigan and Kelsey  Dudziak). The quartet, along with Caroline Webster, were also named to the South/Southeast All-Region team.

Shankman earned his seventh SCAC championship in 2010. He and the Lynx return to action on Saturday, November 20, as they travel to Waverly, Iowa to compete in the 2010 NCAA Division III National Championship meet.
