Rhodes Wins South/Southeast Region Championship behind Stephens' second place finish

SUWANEE, Ga. - Rhodes College junior Taylor Stephens posted a 22:01 6K in the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Regional championship meet  to finish in second place and automatically qualified for next week's national championship meet.

Rhodes turned in quite an impressive team finish as the Lynx placed three runners in the top ten to win the team event and qualify for next week's national meet. Rhodes narrowly beat second-place Emory University, as the Lynx won by a mere four points.

Besides Stephens' second place finish, fellow teammates Anna Johnson ( 7th, 22:42) and Maddie Harrigan (9th, 22:46) also tallied top-10 finishes. Kelsey Dudziak and Caroline Webster both placed in the top-20.

Also earning automatic bids to the NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championship was Trinity's Rosemary Steup (4th), teammate Maddie Murphy (10th) and Centre Bekah Rehkamp (12th).

In the Great Lakes Region, DePauw University's Sirim Retrum led the Tigers with a 53rd place finish while teammate Jess Macy followed closely behind in 55th place. Retrum, Macy and their Tiger teammates finished in ninth-place in the team standings.

Colorado College finished in 13th place in the West Region. Leading the way for the Tigers was Nikki Steinsiek who finished 50th by running a 24:11.
