KACI WELLIK OF TRINITY UNIVERSITY, a senior pitcher from Austin, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Co-Pitcher of the Week for games played Monday, April 4th through Sunday April 10th.
Wellik had another stellar week in the circle for the Tigers, leading the team to a 4-2 overall record, but a weekend series sweep against Austin College in SCAC action.
Wellik pitched her first career no-hitter to open the weekend series against Austin College, striking out nine batters in a 2-0 shutout win for the Tigers. The only baserunner in the game for the 'Roos was a hit batter in the third inning. Wellik was 2-1 overall, posting a paltry 0.82 ERA in her three appearances. She struck out 21 batters in 17 innings of work, allowing just two runs on nine total hits. Against Austin, Wellik had 11 shutout innings, allowing just two total hits, and striking out 14 total hitters.
Sunday's win over the 'Roos put Wellik into a tie for the most career wins in Trinity softball history, drawing even with Erin Mulvey (2005-07).

Freshman pitcher Chandler Smith of Southwestern University pitched in every game against Schreiner for a 2.07 ERA and picking up two wins.
