AMANDA LOCHTE OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a junior pitcher from Fredricksburg, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played Monday, February 1st through Sunday February 7th.
Lochte tossed a pair of complete games and collected two pitching victories as the Bulldogs started the year 4-0. Lochte allowed just one earned run in 12 innings of work. She tossed a 1-hit shutout of UMHB on Saturday. She retired the last 13 batters she faced and allowed only a first inning single.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Freshman pitcher Chandler Smith of Southwestern only allowed two runs for a 0.78 ERA in two games against Southwestern Assemblies. Junior pitcher Victoria Herrera of Austin College had a strong start to the season, striking out nine batters with zero walks in 6.1 innings of work to earn a victory in the first game of the year for the 'Roos.
