VENY PIZANA OF TEXAS LUTHERAN, a junior pitcher from Odem, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played Monday, February 22nd through Sunday February 28th.
Pizana picked up a pair of conference wins in the Bulldogs' four-game sweep of Austin College. Pizana recorded both wins in relief performances. She tossed a total of eight innings, struck out six, walked three and did not allow an earned run.
Pizana and the Bulldogs have won eight straight games to open the season.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior pitcher Kaci Wellik of Trinity earned two of Trinity's three wins last week, leading the Tiger softball team to a 3-1 overall record that was capped by a doubleheader sweep of the College of Staten Island on Sunday. Junior pitcher Katie Lee of Dallas got the start in game one, and limited Southwestern Assemblies of God to four hits in a shutout.
