HOPE ESTES OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a senior designated hitter/catcher from Willis, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Softball Offensive Player-of-the-Week for games played through Sunday, April 19th.
Estes led Texas Lutheran to an undefeated conference season, finishing 23-0 with a four game sweep over Centenary. They have now won 30 games in a row, including 34 straight conference games which is a new SCAC record, breaking DePauw's mark of 33 straight confernece games.
Estes hit .467 with nine RBI, two runs scored, three doubles and a home run. In Saturday's game two, she drove in a career-best seven runs with three hits including two doubles and a home run. She had at least one hit in each game of the series.
For the season, Estes is third in the SCAC with 30 RBIs to go along with a .380 average including five doubles, two home runs, and 19 run scores.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore outfielder Marissa Irvin of Southwestern had four hits in six at bats for a .667 batting average including a perfect 2-for-2 in game one Friday. Sophomore outfielder Mackenzie Hill of Trinity paced the Tiger offense with a .667 batting average, going 4-6 at the plate with five runs scored and one RBI. She hit two doubles and a home run in her four hits, soaring to a 1.500 slugging percentage for the week.
